About Jody

Jody was born in Cape Town and grew up a shy and introverted child.  Today she describes herself as a “go-getter” and her motto is “to live life to the fullest”!  She started playing the piano in high school as a means to explore her passion for music and also sang in the school choir for a few months.

At the age of 14 she joined a private music school (Music & Talent Promotions) under the watchful eye of her mentor and biggest fan Marius Theron.  She had been receiving voice training for 4 years and it has paid off tremendously!  She won the music school’s awards as the Most Outstanding Performer and also took the title of Student of the Year twice. Just before her Idols audition, Jody entered the Pick ‘n pay Future Stars Singing Competition and made history by achieving an overall mark of 100% by the judges, the highest mark even given to a singer in the previous 6 years of this competition!

In June 2007 Jody entered Idols and after a long 6 months she has just walked away with the coveted title of the winner of South African Idols Season 4.  Jody realized one of her dreams when she performed as the opening act for Celine Dion in 2008 when Celine toured South Africa.
